Finding A Happy Medium With Natural Skin Care Products
May 23, 2008
I just can’t get over the fact that Botox is actually a neurotoxin. Why would somebody inject that into their face, especially when it’s only a short-term fix (which means they’ll have to have a toxin injected into their face again)?
Be proactive with your skin care. If you curb harmful behaviors now, like smoking, you’ll do less damage to your skin as you age – which means you’ll look young even if you’re not. Trust me on this – when you’re my age, there’s no better thrill than being asked for ID when you order a drink.
One of my new-agey girlfriends keeps trying to sell me on using olive oil, honey and vegetables as beauty products, but I’m a bit too hung up on the fact that they come out of my fridge. I know that food and beauty have a really close relationship, but I don’t know that I’m ready for that level of cross-pollination.
Luckily, I can get the benefits of all-natural ingredients without the ambivalence – natural skin care products exist that combine organic ingredients with the emulsifiers and preservatives that give chemically-made cosmetic products their long shelf-life. So I can look great without fretting about sell-by dates.
