Revisit Your Resolution
May 20, 2008
If you’re like most people, you resolved to get in shape during 2008 – whether that involved revising your eating habits to reduce your bad cholesterol or blood pressure, hitting the gym to lose weight, or refocusing your existing plan of attack to get more cut.
And again, if you’re pretty typical, you’ve already thrown in the towel. Without a personal trainer or some other kind of support system in place to keep you in the gym and out of the drive-thru, it’s really difficult to affect even the smallest life adjustment – think about how long house remodeling projects can get postponed.
But there’s still time to get back on the horse if you’ve fallen off. Just keep in mind these simple philosophies:
-
It’s okay to fail. Nobody’s perfect, and odds are you’re going to have an undisciplined moment – that doesn’t mean you need to drop your entire weight loss campaign. Like most drastic lifestyle changes, staying fit is a long term proposition, and it’s not going to happen overnight. Just like a stock may spike or dip in the short term but will ultimately trend up, the same will happen to your health, despite the occasional missed goal along the way.
-
Work out with constancy, not constantly. Exercise is important, but overdoing an exercise regimen is a surefire way to get a novice to stop trying. As long as you can devote 40 minutes to an hour to exercise three or four days a week, you’re on the right track.
-
Supplement your workout. If you’re not seeing the results you want, consider using athletic nutrition supplements to help you build muscle and burn fat. We’re not just telling you that because we sell them – there’s science involved! i-Supplements has a great selection of supplements at deep discounts.
