Alternative Skin Care Ideas

Nov 10, 2008

Interested in alternatives to your regular beauty regimen?

Although some of these methods and ingredients have not been scientifically proven to enhance skin tone and balance of skin, a lot of people swear by these homemade remedies and treatments.

Avocados are rich in antioxidants like Vitamin E and glutathione. If you’re looking for a moisturizing treatment, mash one up and spread it on your face.

Buttermilk has lactic acid, which is a natural alpha hydroxy acid that moistens, exfoliates dead skin and plumps it up.

A wet green tea bag placed on both of your eyelids can reduce puffiness and will also regenerate new cells.

Fresh Pineapple juice contains an enzyme called bromelain. It exfoliates and removes dead skin cells; it has to be fresh juice because putting it in a can will ruin the enzyme’s effects.

Honey has antibacterial properties that can help keep bacteria off your skin and soften it up.

These treatments are just supplemental to a few main practices you should be doing every day to protect your skin. Drinking a lot of water, using sunscreen and maintaining a healthy diet will also help you get a glowing complexion.

Ever heard of using baking powder to buff your skin with? Use a loofa and rub it all over your body when you may look a little streaky after fake tanning! If you have an all of the sudden stuborn zit coming on, dap some toothpaste on it before you go to sleep and it will absoarb the oil and gunk so it doesn’t get any worse! You can use diaper rash cream on dry parts of your skin, like your elbows and knees over winter! You can shave with conditioner! If you’re face is in need of some loving, but you don’t want to spend bookoo bucks at a salon, then crack open an egg and and use the egg whites to make a face mask!

I’ve heard avocados are great for your hair too. Something like if its dry and unruly, that avocado brings back the moisture? Good tips though, I appreciate it!

If you mash up some avocado with olive oil and massage it into your scalp it is like a hot oil treatment. Wrap up your hair in a towel for like 10 minutes. You won’t believe the difference it makes! I’m going to try the tea bag thing!
    Thanks guys.
